Partners of individuals with type 2 diabetes had greater reductions in diabetes distress, some improvements in diastolic blood pressure and greater increases in marital satisfaction at four and eight months after engaging in a couples intervention that involved behavior change calls focusing on partner collaboration, communication and support, compared with couples who received individual calls and diabetes education calls. The findings were published in Diabetic Medicine.
