Study Examines Experiences of Discrimination by Transgender Women and their Cisgender Male Partners

As reported in The Body on September 10, 2014, a new study in the Journal of Family Psychology examined how experiences of transgender-related discrimination and relationship stigma were associated with both partners’ relationship quality and mental health. The study, Gender Minority Stress, Mental Health and Relationship Quality: A Dyadic Investigation of Transgender Women and Their Cisgender Male Partners, found that high rates of stigma, discrimination and financial hardship affect both partners.
