LGBTQ identity
At the end of last year, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration issued a report stating that “conversion therapy – efforts to change an individual’s sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression – is a practice that is not supported by credible evidence. The report follows a White House statement issued earlier supporting an end to conversion therapy for minors.
Conversion therapy has been employed by some belief systems to keep people from being gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender, or to keep people from acting upon their feelings. Conversion therapy has had a negative impact on many LGBTQ individuals. It has been used to convince people that they are sick when they are not through the use of shame, humiliation, and guilt.
I support a healthy LGBTQ identity. I support LGBTQ people on their journeys in accepting themselves. If you identify as LGBTQ and want to heal from conversion therapy, please contact me. If you identify as LGBTQ and want to reinforce your strengths, then please contact me.
